Debasis Mohanty returns as Odisha Ranji team coach

Former India swing bowler Debasis Mohanty today made a comeback as the coach of the Odisha Ranji team for the season 2018-19, replacing statemate and former India Test opener Shiv Sundar Das, under whom Odisha put up disappointing performance in the 2017-18 season, finishing sixth among seven teams in Group-C, drawing four matches and losing two.

Incidentally, Das had replaced Mohanty for the season 2017-18, despite the latter guiding Odisha to Ranji Trophy quarterfinals after a gap of 15 years as the coach in the 2016-17 season. Under Mohanty, Odisha finished third among nine teams in Group-B, winning two matches, drawing five and losing one. Das, however, made a comeback as the technical director of OCA Academy, replacing Rashmi Ranjan Parida, who was accommodated in the senior selection committee as member.

Odisha Cricket Association, which is now managed by a five-member Working Committee with Dhiren Pallai as chairman, announced the names of coaches, selectors, trainers and physios of all the state teams along with the staff of OCA Coaching Academy for the season 2018-19.
